Sorry for the LONG layoff, I am going to be getting back into the grooves of this. Put your requests down below in the comments and whatever seems most fitting will be the next topic discussed.

Holiday Slowdown

Now that November is coming to a close, it also brings a close to the biggest part of the year for the video game industry. With December being the time to catch up on games that you may have missed, or may need to catch up on, it is gonna be a great month. Also, the VGA's on Spike ends a year of reflection, talking about the last year in sports.

Mobile Gaming

Upon "popular demand" (haha), I am going to talk about mobile gaming. Mobile gaming has become more popular as I have grown up, and it continues to grow. The DS has helped (along with the Wii) to bring the casual market into gaming. The PSP has continued to improve, with quality games and Sony even supporting it well with games like Motorstorm and LittleBigPlanet. One recent phenomena, though, has taken control of the mobile gaming industry: iPhone. The iPhone is a great way for low-level developers to enter gaming, and it has come with success. Many developers have reported success from low development costs, and it is a great way to learn about the industry and how to become a part of it.
What is the next step in mobile gaming? I am not quite sure, but I think the iPhone and PSPGo are going down the right path: digital distribution. Digital distribution can lower costs of games, improve d work on the games, etc. So mobile gaming will continue to expand the video game industry as a whole, not just mobile gaming.

It's here!!!

I am assuming that everyone and their brother are now playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, with millions already logged into a match over Xbox Live. I have heard some negative things, with user ratings from fanboys (PC mostly) making the game low, about this game. After the gripes from these few, no one can deny: The game is outstanding. This game is the FPS of the year, and could very well be GOTY (up there with Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls, Forza 3, etc.).

I want to talk about Modern Warfare 2 for another reason. It pushed back so many titles into next year, 2010 might be the most balanced year in video game history. No one wanted to compete for market space with Infinity Ward's masterpiece. This pushed games back like Bayonetta, Battlefield:Bad Company 2, Bioshock 2, and Mass Effect 2, just to name a few. Some of these games will be pushed back even farther, into Q2. This will spread these AAA titles into June-July, where there was a drought of games this year. So for helping me spread out my gaming habit for the next year, I thank Infinity Ward for making such a juggernaut of game.

The Beginning

Hello everyone, and thanks for reading. I have decided to write a blog about one of my favorite pastimes, video games.
I have played video games all my life, remembering as a little kid playing my Sega Genesis. Now, as an owner of an Xbox 360 and PS3, I am a college student who pays close attention to the video game industry. I will try to discuss many topics, from positions and people in the industry to new games.
Starting this week, I will try to write about whatever comes to mind, from Bobby Kotick trying to take over the world, or the glut of October-November games. Please stay tuned!
