Mobile Gaming

Upon "popular demand" (haha), I am going to talk about mobile gaming. Mobile gaming has become more popular as I have grown up, and it continues to grow. The DS has helped (along with the Wii) to bring the casual market into gaming. The PSP has continued to improve, with quality games and Sony even supporting it well with games like Motorstorm and LittleBigPlanet. One recent phenomena, though, has taken control of the mobile gaming industry: iPhone. The iPhone is a great way for low-level developers to enter gaming, and it has come with success. Many developers have reported success from low development costs, and it is a great way to learn about the industry and how to become a part of it.
What is the next step in mobile gaming? I am not quite sure, but I think the iPhone and PSPGo are going down the right path: digital distribution. Digital distribution can lower costs of games, improve d work on the games, etc. So mobile gaming will continue to expand the video game industry as a whole, not just mobile gaming.

  1. The ds continues to support both. As does the wii. They have cheapish downloadable games. But, pspgo has full games at less then standard profit and iPhone is whatever you like, even free. But, will ds be elimated? Are they gone with the wind? I do love though how all games have a notched down version rated t for the ds. But, now there doing that for the iPhone too! Nazi zombies is now on the iPhone! Nazi zombies!

  2. The DS will never be eliminated with such a large install base.
